World Elder Abuse Awareness Day
“Established in 1997, the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse (INPEA) has led the way in raising awareness of elder abuse and urging NGOs, grassroots organizations and governments to take action.  The World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) was first instituted by INPEA on June 15, 2006.
In December 2011, the General Assembly of the United Nations, by its resolution 66/127,     designated 15 June as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.
Every year, INPEA organizes in New York, an event to observe WEADD, with the co-sponsorship of the NGO-COA.   INPEA’s affiliates around the world also organize similar events.
